Study: hire pros instead of DIY for home projects

A national survey commissioned by online review site Kudzu.com found that trying to save money on do-it-yourself home projects might end up costing more than hiring a pro.

One in four Americans have hired a professional to fix or finish a home improvement project they just tried themselves. The study, conducted by Kelton Research, revealed that 35% of Americans believe it is more cost effective to hire a professional for a home improvement project than trying to do it themselves.

With age, people gain more perspective on the issue. More than a third (38%) of Americans ages 45 and older note hiring a professional for a home improvement project would be more cost-effective than doing it themselves, compared to 32% of those ages 18-44.

So, there you have it! Unless you really know what you're doing, hire a professional, and save yourself a headache, backache, and some money as well!
