Greening your ways, one small remodel at a time...

If you are considering investing in a mid budget remodel, try to use the following:

  • Install new windows with Low-E rating and double glazing

  • Install a 90-96% efficient condensing water heater

  • Install a re-circulating pump

  • Replace your furnace with a high efficiency unit... better yet: invest in a hydronic heating system

  • Replace toiltes and plumbing fixtures with low-flow units. By replacing a conventional 2.5gpm showerhead with a 1.5gpm showerhead, you save over 3,300 gallons of water per person, per year. By replacing a 3.5gpf toilet with a 1.28gpf toilet, you save close to 5,000 gallons of water per person, per year

  • Install occupancy sensors and dimmers on room light switches

  • Install a drip irrigation system to cut down on wasted water

  • Plant Xerescape (native plants), requiring no added water

Use Less Save Energy Save Water Save Money Save the Planet
